Finding a Job

After graduation I’m hoping to land a job in the real estate field. I have always been mesmerized by real estate and development of real estate. In this time the financial market isn’t what it use to be so finding a job of anybodies liking is going to hard. There are jobs out there, and people are going to have to start from the bottom and work there way up instead of trying to find a dream job right away. I’m looking for jobs and for the last couple of weeks I have been brushing off the fact that jobs are hard to come by in today’s world. Now I know first hand that they weren’t lie when they said this to me. Coming right out of school now isn’t the prime time but it is what it is and I’m going to have to live with it. I have many people I have met during my time here at Manhattanville and hopefully I can use them as references to help in this troubled time. As for me trying to get into real estate right away after college, if it happens it happens, if not then I’m ok with that and I will work toward something in that field down the road. It’s not always going to go that way that I want so rolling with the punches in this time of financial crisis is fine with me. I have always been the one who works the hardest for what I have so working hard to get to the top isn’t going to be anything different for me. So I am just going to keep my head up and not get discouraged when I can’t find a job right away because I know one is out there for me.

  1. Chris I know you work ethic and I think if you get a position when you graduate college you will work your way up quickly in the company. It is a scary time to be graduating college because we are in tough economic times. Many companies are on hiring freezes and many companies are laying people off. Max's blog talks about an interview he went on and the company was on a freeze. If you look hard enough I think you will find a job out their that is right for you. It is going to take a lot of work and some frustration on your part but if you want it bad enough it will happen for you. I wish you luck with your future endeavors.

  3. Galli,

I feel you on the financial crisis effecting the job market. As you know from reading and responding to some of my posts, I am also going through the same issues. I admire your determination and ability to keep a positive attitude by resisting discouragement. I think that this attitude will be key to your success. From what every wise adult I have spoken to about the job hunt tells me, keeping a good attitude is the most important thing to focus on in economic times like these. I have whitnessed first hand your work ethic, through playing lacrosse with you, and seeing how you earned captain on the hockey team as a result of three years of consistent hard work/leadership. This is another characteristic of yours that will put you above the competition. Good luck to you as well in starting a prosperous and successful career. I don't foresee anything getting in your way.
