Consistent style

I think consistent style does sometimes restrict creativity. Having a certain style sometimes many limit the entertainment of a piece of writing if the author wont go out side of their boundaries. This will make a piece of work boring if there is no uniqueness or change from the previous. Creativity to me is something different in every piece of work whether it be a book, article or blog. Not changing a thing from previous work can dull the excitement value of the work. On the other hand if an author has a style that is unique, entertaining and ever changing it can make the reader want more. This obviously is a good thing wanting your reader coming back for more, this shows that the excitement for the piece of work is there and leaving the reading wanting more. This consistent style can enhance creativity because the style of the writer is unique enough to have a active mind and make the work ever changing. Having a style that helps bring out the creative side makes the readers experience more enjoyable and willing to come back for more. Either way there are positives and negatives about the consistent style of the writer, it all depends on the reader and what they enjoy.

  1. In many ways I agree that remaining true to one style will in some ways harp creativity. Being creative does mean new and exciting ideas which think outside the norms and regularity of society. On the other hand the original style and ideas of the author may be creative in itself. If the original idea is creative and new then there is now reason to keep changing. If one continues to change their style it will be very tough to have a distinct style and audience to remain loyal. It is very tough to believe a loyal listener will keep listening and reading if every new piece is a completely different style than the previous piece. Consistency to me is crucial in a writer it is how a writer builds a name for himself and a reputation.

  2. I think a range of style supports creativity. If you are a good writer in a certain style though, I think maybe you can stick to your guns so to speak. Creativity can also come from the content not so much the delivery. Creativity means something different to every writer.
